The Development of Génesis Pérez in Florida
Originally from San José, Costa Rica, Génesis Pérez Watson has emerged as one of her country’s rising stars in women’s soccer. She honed her skills at Montverde Academy—where she earned a full scholarship for her high school studies—and went on to represent Costa Rica at the U‑17 and U‑20 levels, appearing in more than three FIFA Women’s World Cups with her national team.
Shining at the University of Central Florida (UCF)
In August 2023, Génesis began her collegiate career at the University of Central Florida on a full scholarship, joining the UCF Knights women’s soccer team, which competes in NCAA
Division I.
In October 2024, she was honored as the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week after recording her first clean sheet in a 0–0 draw against Colorado—making 14 saves, which tied the conference season record and stands as the seventh‑best single‑game mark in UCF history.
